So the term "yo-yo dieting" was coined by Kelly Brownell at Yale University. It’s when your weight will go down like a yo-yo, but then also comes back up.

In other words, you lose the weight  regain more weight  lose some of that weight  then regain even more weight.

Weight-loss can be frustrating because many times even if you can lose the weight, the second battle is keeping the weight off.
